Reichhold’s recently expanded facility at Atlacomulco, Mexico has successfully begun production. The site produces unsaturated polyester resins for its composites business and alkyd and solvent acrylic resins for the global coating and performance resins business. As part of this expansion, Reichhold announced the indefinite idling of production at its Vallejo site located in Mexico City.
In addition to increasing the capacity of the Atlacomulco facility, the expansion project included implementation of an advanced silica thixing technology which will improve the quality and consistency of the products, according to the company.
“Mexico is a vital component for our business growth plans for Reichhold,” said Gary Krall, chairman and CEO, Reichhold. “We are investing in enhanced capabilities in Atlacomulco, Mexico since it is a more modern manufacturing operation and it has the space for expansion to continue to support our customer’s future needs.”
The Vallejo site will still house administrative functions, according to Reichhold. The company will continue to operate warehouses in Guadalajara and Monterrey.
